La Roux

To be perfectly honest I don’t really like pop music. Artists like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga don’t really mean anything to me. The truth is that, following a story by the Portuguese music magazine Blitz, I ended up acknowledging the existence of La Roux. La Roux is a British Electro pop Synth Duo, composed by Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid, although it ends up looking pretty much like a solo act. The name of the band has a weird story behind since Ben Langmaid claims that he found a book with names for babies where one of them was “La Roux”, intended to mean the red in French, even though the right way to say it is actually La Rousse. The Influences on this project are Yazoo or The Human League, basically, the 80’s Synth Pop.

Le Roux has had a good start so far. The Dubstep artist SKREAM has already made a Remix of the song “In For The Kill” and in 2009 Le Roux has won the prize for the Best Newcomer by O2 Silver Clef Awards, and The Best Female Newcomer (Elly Jackson) by Studio8 International Music Awards.

Le Roux is in my opinion one of the best music acts in their category in a long time. The album is very good and I’m hoping that the next one goes the same way.
Elly Jackson’s first name is Eleanor, she is 21 years old (March 8th, 1988) and her mother is the British actress Trudy Goodwin.
